FAQ
How does FowlVoice know which AI command to use?
It's automatic. If you have text selected when you hold the hotkey, FowlVoice activates AI Edit. If nothing is selected, it activates AI Answer. AI Format runs automatically after every dictation when enabled.
Do AI Commands require internet?
Yes. AI Commands send transcribed text to your chosen provider (ChatGPT or OpenRouter). Core dictation stays fully local and works offline — AI features are optional layers on top.
Can I use different AI behavior per app?
Yes. Per-app AI instruction overrides let you set different system prompts for each app. Technical formatting in your IDE, casual cleanup in Slack, precise editing in your writing app.
What if the AI edit isn't what I wanted?
FowlVoice shows a 20-second undo window after every AI Edit. It also validates edits to prevent no-op changes, accidental language switches, and other common AI mistakes.
