Privacy Policy
Short version: FowlVoice's core dictation runs on your Mac. This page explains what stays local, what can be sent to third parties only when you choose online features, and how website data is handled.
Effective date June 12, 2026. If this policy changes in a material way, this page will be updated.
1. Core dictation stays on-device
FowlVoice's core speech recognition runs locally on your Mac. For normal dictation, your audio does not need to be uploaded to FowlVoice servers.
2. Optional AI features
If you use optional features such as AI Answer, AI Edit, AI Format, or connect a provider such as ChatGPT or OpenRouter-compatible services, the text needed to complete that feature can be sent to the provider you choose. Those providers handle that data under their own terms and privacy policies.
3. Accounts and past purchases
FowlVoice is free and does not require an account. Earlier paid versions sold licenses through Polar; purchase records from that period (the details needed to deliver licenses, prevent fraud, and answer support questions) were processed through that checkout flow and related email communications, and may be retained for support and legal reasons.
4. Website data
Like most websites, this site and its infrastructure providers may process basic technical data such as IP address, browser information, device information, timestamps, and requested pages to keep the site secure, available, and functioning.
5. How information is used
Information is used to provide the product, respond to support requests, maintain security, and operate the website. FowlVoice is not built around advertising or selling personal data.
6. Sharing and retention
Information is shared only as needed with service providers that help run infrastructure and the optional AI features you choose to use. Past purchase, support, and security records may be kept for as long as reasonably needed for operations, legal compliance, fraud prevention, and support.
7. Your choices
You can use the core dictation experience locally without turning on optional AI features. If you want to ask about, access, update, or delete information that FowlVoice controls directly, use the contact path below.
8. Do Not Track
Browsers sometimes offer a Do Not Track setting. There is no universal standard for how to respond to that signal, so this site does not currently change its behavior based on it.
9. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, reach out on X (@argofowl). If your request relates to a past purchase, include the order details so it can be matched quickly.
For the product-level explanation of local-first behavior, see the capabilities overview.
